China Expands 10-Day Visa-Free Transit to 57 Countries

Chinese expats and international travelers in Copenhagen have more flexibility for multi-destination trips. China expanded its 240-hour visa-free transit program to 57 countries on August 20, 2026.

The policy now includes Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan. Travelers from eligible nations can stay in China for up to ten days. They must transit to a third country or region.

This transit rule is helpful for Copenhagen residents traveling with American or Mexican colleagues. Citizens from Denmark and Sweden have a 30-day visa exemption through December 31, 2026. However, citizens from countries like the United States do not have that 30-day waiver. They can use this ten-day transit rule instead.

Eligible routes include journeys like Denmark to China to Japan. Travels to Hong Kong or Macao after China also count as transit.

Travelers must enter through 65 approved ports across 24 Chinese provinces. The 10-day count starts at midnight the day after arrival. Passengers must show a confirmed onward ticket to their final destination.

Local travelers in Denmark can submit arrival details online using China's digital e-Arrival Card. VisasNews reported these official immigration updates.
