/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Barely half of Denmark's public air-raid shelters can be used in an acute emergency. A physical inspection revealed major gaps in the national shelter network.
The Ministry for Civil Security and Emergency Management checked 1,694 located concrete shelters. Only 831 shelters met the basic operational requirements. This number represents just 49 percent of the inspected sites.
To pass inspection, a shelter must meet specific minimum standards. It needs accessible interior rooms and an intact physical structure. Central fixed installations must also function properly. The findings were reported by The Copenhagen Post.
