/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Travelers flying outside the Schengen area face severe airport border delays. Non-EU passport holders should budget extra time to avoid missed flights.
Major aviation trade groups are now demanding urgent border control updates. ACI EUROPE and Airlines for Europe formally issued the demand. They are urging immediate changes to the Schengen Entry/Exit System.
Nearly six months have passed since full implementation of the system. Border wait times at major European airports routinely exceed two hours. Peak travel hours see border queues reach up to five hours.
Long queues cause severe overcrowding inside departure terminals. Many passengers continue to miss international flight connections as a result.
Passengers travelling through hubs like Copenhagen Kastrup must complete biometric registration. The trade groups want operational and regulatory fixes to reduce delays.
