Aarhus to Reduce Bus and Light Rail Tickets to 15 Kroner

Aarhus Municipality has agreed to lower public transport prices. From 2027, bus and light rail tickets in Aarhus will cost 15 Danish kroner. This change comes from the municipal budget agreement reached on Thursday evening.

The municipality will set aside 35 million Danish kroner every year starting in 2027. A consultancy report suggested that cheap tickets could cost 122 million Danish kroner. However, that report contained some uncertainty. Mayor Anders Winnerskjold believed the actual cost would be lower. He convinced the city council to accept his view.

Aarhus has already tested 15-kroner tickets on three bus lines since March. Passengers can buy cheap tickets on those trial routes now. The local council will expand this deal to all lines in 2027. This report comes from DR and TV 2 Østjylland.
