/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Danish public hospitals rejected one in seven specialist referrals from general practitioners last year. This means 200,000 patients faced delays in getting specialist medical care. If your specialist care is delayed, you should follow up with your doctor promptly.
Hospital rejections of referrals were rare before 2018. Since then, the total number of rejected referrals has exploded. Organization of General Practitioners chairman Jørgen Skadborg warned about these growing delays.
He said rejections delay vital diagnoses and patient treatments. Skadborg is now calling for new legislation to stop hospital rejections. The Copenhagen Post reported these healthcare figures.
